Regrout Service/Grout Medic has been trading since 2001 in the UK with many thousands of satisfied customers. Starting off trading in the North of England in Yorkshire in 2001 the business expanded into the North West of England in 2006 covering Lancashire and Cheshire due to demand and the lack of tradesmen prepared to carry out the service.

In 2014 the business expanded into London and now offers a nationwide service covering most parts of the United Kingdom.

We offer a value for money service transforming the look of tired looking tiled areas in bathrooms, kitchens and shower areas predominantly, negating the need for retiling. In most cases there is nothing wrong with the tiles themselves with jobs been completed on tiles up to 120 years old. As grout is a porous substance which discolours and degrades over time, this leaves tiled areas looking dirty, unhygienic and unsightly spoiling the look of tiled areas.

Another benefit of this service is that a lot of leaks and damp problems in shower and bath / shower areas are caused by degrading grout and silicone sealants, where damp slowly gets absorbed through the grout and through cracks in degraded sealants creating damp soaking into the wall and floor which can lead to water damage causing £000’s worth of damage. Most domestic jobs can be completed within a day causing the minimum inconvenience to customers. Larger areas and commercial areas can be assessed by site survey.

The service involves a procedure where old silicone sealants are removed where necessary, then a special mechanical tool is used to remove grout from between the tiles without damaging them, removing grout up to a maximum of 3-4mm. The tiles themselves are cleaned and polished and then new grout is applied between the tiles and is allowed 1 hour to dry off before the tiles are polished again for a second time (It usually takes 24 hours for wall grout to dry off properly before showers can be used – although baths can be used 2 hours after completion. Floor grout has to be left for 48 hours to dry properly).

Finally silicone seals are then re-applied on any areas that are prone to movement or leakage making these areas water tight. Once finished the technician will leave you with maintenance instructions in order to keep the grout and silicone seals in good condition for many years to come. They say kitchen and bathrooms make a home and as these areas are predominantly tiled it’s important to keep the grout and silicone sealants in good condition as well as hygienic. Once completed it is recommended the grout be sealed within a couple of weeks and then once per year thereafter to prevent discolouration and degradation.
